With the arrival of summer,Big Canoe mountain resort turns into a flurry of activity lovers of wet and wild fun for all ages. The Swim Club, located near the Fitness Center, features a 110,000-gallon outdoor saline pool, white sandy beaches, and swimming in spring-fed Lake Disharoon. In 2016, an inflatable water park was added to the lake, in addition to the paddle boats, canoes, kayaks and theever-popular paddle boards. Volleyball nets are erected on the beach.
If that wasn’t enough, Swim Club admission includes as many trips as your heart desires down a gorgeous, natural Rock Slide that deposits sliders into a refreshing natural pool. A snack bar serves hamburgers, hotdogs and non-alcoholic beverages, and there are plenty of picnic tables and grills if you want to bring your own food. Circling Lake Disharoon is a delightful hiking path that takes you over fallen trees, and across footbridges leading to the Rock Slide. The path also connects to hiking trails that lead to the “Jeep Trail” and two musical waterfalls. Pools and lake swimming are open daily through July from 10 a.m.-8p.m., and on weekends and holidays only from early August through Labor Day.
